Blackness Castle & Linlithgow

Step back in time with a visit to Blackness Castle, one of Scotland’s most impressive coastal fortresses, before enjoying free time to explore the historic town of Linlithgow.

Often known as the “ship that never sailed”, Blackness Castle sits on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth and offers fantastic views across the water towards the Forth bridges. Explore the castle and discover its fascinating history as a royal fortress, garrison and state prison.

After visiting Blackness Castle, we’ll head to Linlithgow, where you’ll have plenty of free time to enjoy the town at your own pace. Browse the shops, enjoy lunch or a coffee, take a stroll around Linlithgow Loch or explore the magnificent ruins of Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots.

With no set itinerary during your free time, you can choose how you spend your visit.
