Housed within the original buildings of a Second World War prisoner of war camp, Eden Camp is a fascinating and immersive day out bringing history to life. The site began as a POW camp in 1942 and today, 22 of the original huts have been transformed into themed exhibitions covering life during the First and Second World Wars and conflicts that followed.

 

Explore recreated scenes from the Home Front and Front Line, including the Blitz, rationing, the Home Guard, evacuation, the Battle of Britain, women at war and life in wartime Britain. The museum uses realistic displays, sounds and even smells to give you a real sense of what life was like during the 1940s. There are also displays covering military vehicles and equipment, POW life, post-war conflicts and much more.

 

There’s plenty to discover at your own pace, making this a great day out for history enthusiasts, families and anyone interested in Britain’s wartime past.
